Pinterest Client Story: What an Account Build Actually Looks Like for a Service Provider

Last Updated: May 26, 2026

“Last night, I got the first person onto my email list from Pinterest. I checked my web data, and it said she was referred from Pinterest. She downloaded my Authority Anchor Template.”

That was the message I woke up to from Gina, my latest Pinterest success story, and as a Pinterest strategist, nothing makes me happier than seeing it work.

That message was sent around 3 months after she invested in my Pinterest account build and optimization service – the Pinterest Circulation Blueprint.

We had started at zero – no Pinterest account, no history, but a whole lot of content to build an archive from, and a desire to stop putting Pinterest on the back burner.

Gina loved the idea of getting her content to work harder for her by circulating it on a platform where her ideal person searches for what she offers.

Why Gina Stopped Putting Pinterest Off

Gina is an ethical conversion copywriter, and her podcast, The 7-Figure Copy Podcast, is in its third season.

She also offers copywriting services for established business owners looking to craft high-converting copy that attracts a higher-quality, premium client base.

Here’s what she told me: “I had thought about starting Pinterest for a long time, but never made the time.”

(Honestly, if I had a dollar for every time I hear about wanting to get started on Pinterest but not having the time or bandwidth to figure out the platform, you wouldn’t be reading this because I’d be RICH.)

It felt overwhelming because she didn’t want to learn another platform or do it herself.

She wanted to work with a Pinterest expert and get a real strategy in place.

Above all else, though, she wanted to get in front of her ideal client without spending her life on social media. To build something that kept finding new people while she focused on her clients.

Starting a Pinterest Account From Scratch — What the Baseline Looked Like

When I started piecing together Gina’s Pinterest strategy, we were starting from scratch on a brand-new account.

What she did have was a content archive – 2 published seasons of her podcast, with the 3rd on the way. She was repurposing her podcasts into well-optimized blog posts, which is important and powerful for Pinterest.

The good news was that Gina had everything needed to get started on Pinterest. No need to wait for more content to be created; it was time to get what was published circulating.

Inside a Pinterest Account Build — The Strategy Behind the Setup

A snapshot of the Pinterest Strategy Planner created by Pinterest strategist Elaine Timms

The first place I always start in any Pinterest strategy is in the search bar.

The goal is to understand what the audience is searching for and to start mapping the intent behind what they hope to get after a click.

I collected relevant keywords and populated them into a keyword bank.

I then map the keywords to the client journey and funnel stages.

Understanding which keywords are awareness and which are solution-based has played a key role in Gina’s growth on Pinterest.

Based on my research, I developed a full-funnel board strategy to support Gina’s content.

I created a branded board for her podcast to house pins linking back to her blog posts. That board is currently her top-performing board, a living archive of her expertise, and is positioned to be found by people who didn’t know her podcast existed.

The remaining boards support searches and intent with the goals of moving people to Gina’s website to get freebies, and ultimately check out her paid services.

The next step is a pin strategy, so I created Canva pin templates with her branding so she could easily edit and create multiple pins targeting different search-intent angles for each piece of content without having to start over or wonder what to pin.

I showed her exactly how to do this in my Pinterest strategy walk-through video.

All research and tasks done on the account are housed in a Pinterest Strategy Planner spreadsheet (snapshot pictured above) that I create for all clients. Within that, there’s also a tab for a content library, which keeps things easy to see what content there is to work with.

If you love organization, you’ll love my strategy spreadsheet – I should really sell it.

How She Accelerated Her Pinterest Results in the First 90 Days

Gina’s results on Pinterest have been nothing short of amazing.

Here’s a snapshot of where she’s at:

Her growth curve is ahead of what we normally see because:

  • She shared her Pinterest account on social media — not many clients do this.
  • Early signal boost from a warm audience engaging with her pins.
  • She creates strong text overlays — copywriting skills applied to pins.

The lesson: A Pinterest account build gives you the foundation; what you build on top determines how fast it grows, and Gina showed up for her own strategy in a big way.

Real Pinterest Results — Three Months After an Account Build and Optimization

Speaking of results, let’s look more closely at the Pinterest growth.

  • Impressions: 54,380 — up 22,370% — Pinterest is showing her content.
  • Saves: 164 — up 4,000% — content is resonating and triggering further distribution.
  • Engagements: 428 — up 2,277% — stopping the scroll.
  • Total audience: 1,070 — up 9,627% — over a thousand people have now seen her content.
  • Outbound clicks: 17 — up 1,600% — clicks are lower at the moment, but with her saves growth, that number will also increase over time.

“Last night, I got the first person onto my email list from Pinterest. I checked my web data, and it said she was referred from Pinterest. She downloaded my Authority Anchor Template, so she must have come through the pin you saw on your screen with a lot of impressions — The number one forgotten sentence on your homepage.” – Gina sharing her excitement with me via email

When She Stopped Thinking About Social Media

Recently, I gave a Pinterest training session at a business retreat called Evergreen, and Gina attended.

During the Q&A session, Gina piped up and said she hadn’t really been thinking much about socials.

Not that she wasn’t going to use them, but that she didn’t have to rely on them because she knows she’s building marketing that keeps working on Pinterest.

That’s the marketing mindset shift I hope you make.

The moment a business owner stops performing for algorithms she cannot control and starts building an archive she owns, is a moment that needs celebrating far more often.

Is a Pinterest Account Build Right for Your Business

A Pinterest account build is not for everyone.

It’s not a magic fix or a shortcut.

It’s the foundation that sets you up for success on Pinterest. Like anything foundational, it only works if what you build on top of it is worth finding.

If you’re creating content and watching it disappear, or maybe showing up consistently, but still feeling invisible, or putting Pinterest on the back burner because you don’t know where to start and you don’t want to guess your way through it alone, then yes, the Pinterest Circulation Blueprint is for you.

Here’s how I would know for certain:

You have been thinking about Pinterest, but never made the time.

This was the situation Gina was in. Wanting to start, but not wanting to put in much effort without knowing what to do.

She needed someone to build it properly so she did not have to figure it out herself. Three months later, she is getting email subscribers from Pinterest while she focuses on her clients.

You have tried Pinterest before and did not see the results you expected.

The difference between Pinterest that works and one that doesn’t is almost always the foundation.

A breakdown in keyword research or board structure, or a lack of understanding around search intent. When they are in place, Pinterest starts doing what it’s designed to do — find the right people and send them to your content.

You are ready to stop guessing and start building.

You do not want a course. You do not want another thing to figure out on your own. You want someone who has been doing this for 9 years to build it correctly from day one — and then show you exactly how it works so you can keep it running with confidence.

I build your entire Pinterest foundation — the keyword research, the board strategy, the pin templates, the content library, the keyword bank — and I walk you through every decision. Then I stay in your corner for six months, so you always have someone to ask.

If you have the content, I’m ready to build the archive.

What She Said About Working With a Pinterest Strategist

Take a look at what Gina wrote as a testimonial after working together:

“Working with Elaine to get my Pinterest account set up was truly a lifesaver. I had thought about starting Pinterest for a long time, but never made the time – and I knew I didn’t want to guess my way through it. I wanted an expert and a real strategy to help drive traffic to my website and podcast. Elaine didn’t just set up my account. She handled the keyword research, created Canva templates, so I wasn’t starting from scratch, and built an incredibly organized spreadsheet with my boards, keywords, and content assets. She made everything simple, clear, and easy to implement. If you want an evergreen system that drives traffic without constantly chasing social media trends, partnering with Elaine is a far better use of your time than trying to figure it out yourself.”

This is what I build for established business owners who are ready for their content to work as hard as they do.
